  14.    DESCRIPTION
  15.      EGSshow is a viewing program for GIF, JPEG and IFF files on the EGS window
  16.      system. This program is able to read the JPEG format as well as the GIF
  17.      formats GIF87a, GIF89a and all future GIF files compatible with both of
  18.      the above as well as valid IFF ILBM files, including EHB, HAM6, HAM8 and
  19.      IFF24. The format of the file is detected automatically.

  21.      The display window's open size is determined by the initial picture file
  22.      and the maximum possible size on the EGS default screen. The picture
  23.      itself is displayed in a scrolling gadget that lets you select the part
  24.      you want to see.

  26.      EGSShow needs a lot of memory for bigger pictures ( > 640 x 480) and EGS
  27.      version 6 or higher. Selecting a lower colour depth than 24 bit for the
  28.      EGS default screen will save you lots of memory.

  30.    SHELL OPTIONS

  32.      file
  33.           The GIF, JPEG or IFF file to read at startup. If no file is initially
  34.           specified, no picture is displayed first.

  36.    WORKBENCH
  37.      EGSShow can also be started from the workbench. To initially display a
  38.      file, first click on the picture icon and double-click the EGSShow icon
  39.      while simultaneously pressing the shift key.

  41.    MENUS
  42.      EGSShow has only one menu named "Project" which contains the following
  43.      items:

  45.      Open
  46.           Opens file requester to display another picture.
  47.  
  48.      Picture info
  49.           Displays info about the picture, ie. format, size and optional info.
  50.  
  51.      Keep size
  52.           Checkmarked item that determines if the display window is resized for
  53.           every newly loaded picture (default) or if its size is kept constant.

  56.           Displays copyright info.
  57.  
  58.      Quit
  59.           Quits the program.

  61.    TROUBLE GUIDE
  62.      If no picture is displayed after loading, there is a number of reasons
  63.      what might have gone wrong. First of all, you need enough memory. Then
  64.      there are JPEG file formats that are not supported such as arithmetic
  65.      encoding. The weird NewTek IFF24 format is not supported, only standard
  66.      IFF24 is.
